We're aiming to establish Fondion as the leading ERP solution provider in the construction industry. Right now, our goal is to create a seamlessly intuitive user interface that enhances everyday interactions with our product. We already have a solid foundation; now, the challenge - and opportunity - lies in transforming it into something truly exceptional.

Our customers use our product in continuous monitoring of key economic figures within our ERP system. Building UI in our product involves enriching all views with essential business data and creating detailed report views, including cash flow and financial graphs. With extensive data waiting to be fully organized into diverse report views, there are ample opportunities to enhance information presentation and impress customers!

Fondion is on a mission to double our revenue in 2024. To achieve this ambitious goal, we need to expand our core tech team with 2 new Full Stack Developers.

What would make your workday unique as a Frontend-focused Full Stack Developer at Fondion?

50% of your day would be dedicated to feature development. You would be given the autonomy to bring your ideas to life, contributing to a product that is revolutionizing the construction industry.
10% of your time would be dedicated to enhancing the technology. Currently, our focus is on enhancing our application's reliability and performance, along with improving developer experience and productivity through a comprehensive rewrite of core parts of the application.
10% of your time would be invested in assisting and engaging in discussions with the team. Our core squad consists of a Tech Lead, a Senior Backend developer, a Senior Frontend developer, and three full stack developers, along with 2+ consultants. We value everyone's insights and believe it's crucial to have viewpoints on how tasks can be executed.
10% of your time would be devoted to code review activities. You'd also be involved in reviewing code, testing, and debugging to uphold our standards of high-quality coding.
The remaining 10% would be allocated for meetings (dailies, weekly, demo, retro, refinement).

We admire easy-to-use solutions. You might be interested in our frontend tools Typescript, React and Material UI. The backend is built with Python, FastAPI with Mypy, and the whole thing is running on AWS built with Terraform. We have some technical debt, but it has been pretty well identified and refactored as part of feature development, but also via separate maintenance epics.

We operate within a dynamic startup environment that emphasizes innovation, teamwork, and prioritizes developer experience. We’re moving fast to reach new targets in the Finnish market, and also starting to take the first steps in the international market.

As part of our core team, you will contribute to a culture that values quick iterations and learning through doing (MVP), while maintaining the focus on value and quality outcomes. We highly value your input on potential improvements and we place a strong focus on enhancing the developer experience. Here are your primary responsibilities:

Develop and sustain scalable web applications.
Engage in code evaluations, testing, and bug fixing to maintain the highest code quality standards.
Assist in refining our development methodologies, including our commitment to the Trunk Based Development model and our aim to have cycle time between 2 to 4 days.
Create usability focused front-end solutions using TypeScript, React, and Material UI.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to convert business needs into technical specifications.

What does the team expect from you within the first year?

In 3 months, you should be fully onboarded, understand our development practices, and have started contributing to feature development.
In 6 months, you should be able to independently handle feature development, participate actively in code reviews, and begin to contribute to tech improvements.
In 12 months, you should be an integral part of our team, leading tech improvements, actively collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing significantly to reducing our cycle time.

Key skills required:

Minimum of 3 years' experience in full stack development, with demonstrated expertise in Python, JavaScript, and React.
Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control, testing, and deployment.
Proven experience working in a fast-paced startup environment, with a specific focus on product development and user experience.
Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to communicate proficiently in English and willingness to come to our Espoo office once a month.
